Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 July 2026
Dada is a family location sharing app. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
1. Who we are
Dada is operated by Orion Dijital Pazarlama ve Kozmetik LTD ŞTİ ("we", "us"), registered in Türkiye. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
Contact: support@dadatrack.com
2. The short version
- We collect location and device data only to provide the service to your family.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data for advertising.
- There are no advertising or analytics tracking SDKs in the app.
- Children do not create accounts. No email, password or profile is collected from a child.
- A child using Dada sees the same map the family sees, and is notified when their live location is being watched.
3. What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address or phone number (adults only) | To create and sign in to an account. Sign-in with Apple or Google may provide us your name and email address. |
| Display name and optional profile photo | So family members can recognise each other on the map. |
| Location (latitude, longitude, accuracy, heading, speed) | The core function: showing family members on a map, place alerts, location history and trip detection. |
| Motion activity and step count | To tell walking from driving. Without it, GPS noise in dense cities reports someone as "driving" while they stand still. |
| Battery level, charging state, ringer mode | To warn the family before a phone dies, and to explain why a call went unanswered. |
| Device model, operating system, app version, push token | To deliver notifications and to diagnose problems. |
| Screen time / app usage (only where the device permits it, and only for members of your own family) | To show daily device usage and apply the limits a parent sets. |
| Messages and check-ins you send in the app | To deliver them to your family. |
| View records | We record when a family member views another member's location, so the person being located can see who looked and when. |
We do not collect contacts, photos (other than a profile picture you choose), call logs, messages from other apps, browsing history or microphone audio.
4. Children
Dada is designed so that a child never needs an account. A child's device joins a family using a one-time pairing code created by a parent or guardian; the device receives an access token. We do not ask a child for an email address, a password, a date of birth or any profile information beyond the display name the parent chooses.
A parent or guardian is responsible for setting up a child's device and is asked to obtain the child's understanding of what is shared. Within the app, the child sees the same family map as everyone else, and receives a notification when someone is actively watching their live location.
If you believe a child's data has been collected without the required consent, write to support@dadatrack.com and we will delete it.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
- Contract — to provide the family map, alerts and history you signed up for.
- Consent — for location access, motion access and notifications, granted through your device's permission prompts and withdrawable at any time in system settings.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix faults.
- Legal obligation — where we must retain records to comply with law.
6. How long we keep it
- Location history: up to 30 days, then deleted automatically.
- Account and family data: for as long as the account exists.
- Messages and check-ins: for as long as the family exists.
- Diagnostic records: a short period, then removed.
Deleting your account deletes your family membership, your location history and your messages. A child's device can be unpaired at any time, which stops all collection from that device immediately.
7. Who else processes your data
We keep this list short on purpose. We use:
- Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) — hosting of our servers and database.
- OneSignal — delivery of push notifications (device push token and the notification content).
- Google Maps (Android) and Apple Maps (iOS) — map rendering on your device.
- Apple and Google — sign-in, app distribution and subscription payments. We never see your card details.
These providers act on our instructions. We do not give anyone access to your family's location data for their own purposes.
8. International transfers
Our servers are located in Germany (European Union). Some providers listed above may process data outside your country. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the safeguards those providers offer, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
9. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Access tokens are stored in the device's secure storage. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect; if a breach affects you, we will tell you.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to a use. You can also withdraw a device permission at any time in your phone's settings — the app keeps working, with less information.
To exercise any of these, write to support@dadatrack.com. We answer within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK you may also complain to your local data protection authority; in Türkiye, to the KVKK.
11. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will show a notice in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
